Safeguarding Policy
Apollo Accreditation
1. Our position and its limits
Apollo Accreditation does not teach, assess or supervise learners. We work with the organisations that do. We are therefore not the first line of safeguarding for any learner, and we do not present ourselves as such.
What we do carry is a design responsibility. Programmes we help build are delivered to real learners, some of whom are under 18 or otherwise at risk.
2. Safeguarding by design
Where a programme we design will be delivered to learners under 18 or to adults at risk, we require the client to tell us so at the outset, and we build the following into the design.
Clear expectations on supervision and staff conduct, an accessible route for a learner to raise a concern, appropriate handling of learner personal data including any special category data, and a check that the client holds a safeguarding policy and the staff checks its jurisdiction requires.
3. Where we will not proceed
We do not proceed where a client intends to deliver to learners under 18 or to adults at risk and has no safeguarding policy, no named responsible person, and no willingness to put either in place.
4. Our own conduct
Our people rarely have direct contact with learners. Where an engagement requires it, for example observing delivery as part of a quality review, contact is arranged through the client, is supervised by the client, and is never unsupervised one to one with a child or adult at risk.
5. Reporting a concern
If you have a concern about a learner's immediate safety, contact the local emergency services and the provider's designated safeguarding lead first. We are not an emergency route.
Concerns about the design or conduct of an engagement we are involved in can be raised at info@apolloaccreditation.com and are escalated to a director the same working day.
6. Records
Safeguarding concerns are recorded separately from ordinary client records, with access restricted to directors, and retained in line with the retention rules in our privacy notice.
7. Review
Reviewed annually.
