CPD Certification

CPD certification across industries

If people in your field have to stay competent after they qualify, we can look at your course. These are the eighteen sectors we expect to see most often, and how each profession's own rules fit in.

Free, no preparation needed. We look at the course and tell you honestly whether CPD certification is the right fit.

Short answer

CPD matters wherever people must keep up after qualifying. That covers nurses and surveyors, compliance officers, accountants, HR teams and plenty more. We will prepare a professional development course from any sector for CPD certification. The sector decides what the course should cover and which professional body rules apply. The CPD body's criteria decide whether it is well built and whether the hours stand up, and we check against both before anything is submitted.

Sectors we prepare CPD courses for

Business and management

Leadership, project management, strategy, operations and supervisory skills.

Compliance and regulation

GDPR, AML, anti-bribery, whistleblowing, the EU AI Act and sector rulebooks.

Finance and accounting

Reporting updates, tax, audit, financial crime and controls.

Insurance

Product knowledge, conduct rules and claims handling. In Malta, the MFSA sets its own CPD rules.

Legal

Practice updates, client care, ethics and legal skills for solicitors, paralegals and in-house teams.

HR and L&D

Employment law updates, people management, learning design and coaching.

Healthcare and nursing

Clinical updates and professional skills. NMC revalidation needs 35 hours over three years.

Social care

Safeguarding, dementia care, medication awareness and person-centred practice.

Education and training

Teaching practice, assessment, safeguarding and digital learning for teachers and trainers.

Property and construction

Surveying, lettings, building safety and planning. RICS asks for 20 hours a year.

Engineering

Technical updates, standards, design practice and engineering management.

Health and safety

Risk assessment, fire safety, manual handling and occupational health.

IT and cyber security

Information security, cloud, data protection by design and incident response.

Hospitality and tourism

Food safety, licensing, guest service and tourism management.

Public sector

Procurement, governance, policy and public service delivery.

Energy and sustainability

ESG reporting, CSRD, environmental management and energy efficiency.

Marketing and communications

Digital marketing, consumer law in advertising, PR and brand.

Security

Physical security, risk management, investigation and security leadership.

Not on the list? If the course is genuine professional development, we can look at it. Ask us.

Sector rules come first

Every sector has its habits, and some have hard rules. So before we submit anything aimed at a regulated profession, we find out what that profession's body expects and check that the course and its certificate fit. Four examples:

SectorBodyWhat the body expects
PropertyRICSAt least 20 hours of CPD a year, with at least 10 of them structured (2025 requirements).
Nursing and midwiferyNMC35 hours over three years, at least 20 of them participatory learning.
Legal, England and WalesSRANo minimum hours. A duty to keep competence current, with reflection, planning and records.
Insurance, MaltaMFSAIts own continuous professional development rules for insurance distribution.

Checked October 2026. Rules change, and a professional body can decide for itself whether a course counts. Certification does not override that.

Where we expect most demand

Our guess is that most applications will come from people training staff in compliance, finance, health and safety, HR, management and education. Rules in those fields change every year and buyers tend to be careful, so a checked course with honest hours counts for a lot.

Got a course that sits across sectors, such as data protection written for healthcare teams? We check it against the CPD body's criteria, then against the rules for the people you actually sell it to.

What changes from one sector to another

The CPD body's criteria stay the same from sector to sector. What changes is what we measure the content against in our review. Here is how that looks in practice:

  • Compliance courses are checked against the law in the country they are sold in. UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 for UK buyers, the EU GDPR for buyers in Malta and the rest of the EU.
  • Health and safety courses need to reflect the right regime. Great Britain and Northern Ireland have separate health and safety bodies, and Malta has its own.
  • Courses for regulated professions such as nursing, surveying or law are checked against what that profession's body expects, so the hours and format fit the member's CPD record.
  • Technical and IT courses are checked for currency, because tools and threats move quickly and a course written two years ago may already be out of date.

When a course needs specialist knowledge we do not have in the team, we bring in a subject expert to review it with us. You will always hear about it before they start.

Courses that cross sectors

Lots of good courses sit between sectors. Think of data protection for healthcare teams, anti-money laundering for estate agents, or health and safety for a hotel group. We check them against the CPD body's criteria first, then against the rules that apply to whoever you sell them to. Selling one course to two very different audiences? We may ask how you adapt it for each.

Common questions

Which industries do you cover?

Any sector, as long as the course is genuine professional development. Most of our CPD work is in compliance, finance, health and safety, HR, management and education, and we also prepare courses in healthcare, property, legal, IT, hospitality, energy and the public sector.

Do you check professional body rules for my sector?

Yes. For a course aimed at a regulated profession we look up what that profession's body expects, and we make sure the course and the certificate fit. The body still has the final say on what counts.

Can you prepare a course for nurses or surveyors?

Yes. We get it ready for CPD certification and make sure the hours and format suit the NMC or RICS. Whether it then counts towards revalidation or a CPD return is between the professional and their body.

My sector is not listed. Can you still help?

Probably. The list is just the sectors we expect to see most. If your course is real professional learning with clear outcomes, send us a short note and you will get an honest answer about whether it fits.

Do you use subject experts for specialist courses?

Yes, whenever a course needs knowledge we do not have in the team. The expert reviews the content with us, and we tell you before anyone is brought in.
