A CPD body will test four things before it certifies a course: outcomes you can check, hours that match the real learning time, content that is current, and a certificate with the right details on it. We build around those four from day one. The result is a course that can go to a CPD body without a round of rework first, and a provider who knows exactly what is in it.
What we build
Short, practical learning for people who already hold a qualification and need to keep it current.
Workshops
Half-day and one-day courses, in the room or live online, with a facilitator guide, slides and exercises.
Webinar series
A run of sessions planned as one programme, with outcomes that build from week to week.
eLearning modules
Self-paced modules with activities and a knowledge check, timed properly so the hours stand up.
Blended programmes
Online study for the knowledge, then live time to practise it, sold as one course with one certificate.
In-house CPD
Programmes an employer runs for its own staff, so people leave with hours they can log with their professional body.
Event learning tracks
Conference sessions planned as learning, with outcomes and attendance records, and kept clear of sales pitches.
How we build to CPD criteria
- Outcomes come first. We agree three to six outcomes with you before any content is written. Each one has to be something a learner can show, so "Explain when a breach must be reported, and how quickly" rather than "Understand GDPR".
- Hours come from the timetable. For a live course we count taught time only. For eLearning we time a run-through as a learner would. The certificate then carries that figure and nothing rounder.
- Content is dated. Every law, standard or fee in the course is checked for the country where it will be sold, and the course gets a review date.
- There is a check on learning. A short quiz, a practical task or a reflective exercise, matched to the outcomes.
- The paperwork is done. You get trainer profiles, a certificate template and a feedback form, which are the documents a CPD body asks for.
From first call to certified course
Scope
Who the course is for, which professional bodies they belong to, and the outcomes you want.
Design
Outcomes, timetable, activities and the check on learning, signed off by you before we build.
Build
Slides, workbook, eLearning, trainer guide and certificate template, with a subject expert from your sector.
Initial quality assurance
A colleague who did not build the course reviews it against the CPD body's criteria.
Certification, if you want it
We send it to the CPD body you choose and run the yearly maintenance review after that.
When we have built a course, the person who runs the initial quality assurance review is someone else in our team, so nobody marks their own work. The certification decision always sits with the CPD body, never with us.
Where the course can go next
Plenty of CPD courses stay CPD courses, and that is a perfectly good result. Some grow. A provider finds that buyers in one market want a formal level, or an employer wants its in-house programme to count towards a qualification. Because we wrote clear outcomes and kept the evidence, that step is a rebuild to a level, not a fresh start.
The level work is covered on our course development for Qualifications Accreditation page.
Common questions
Do we have to use your CPD Certification service afterwards?
No. Some clients take the finished course to a CPD body themselves, and some never certify it at all. The course is built to CPD criteria either way.
Can you rebuild a course we already run?
Yes, and it is often quicker than starting again. We review what you have against the CPD body's criteria, keep what works and rebuild the rest.
How long does a build take?
It depends on the length and the format. A one-day workshop is a far smaller job than a set of eLearning modules. We give you a written timeline after the scoping call.
Can you host the course?
Yes. We can host it on our learning platform or load it onto yours as SCORM or xAPI.
Will the CPD body accept the course?
We cannot promise that, because the decision is the body's. What we can say is that the course will have been checked against that body's criteria before it is sent.
FreeCourse diagnostic
